PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 29, 2018) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard has hired Tim Maguire as Eastern region director for its alpine programs. He previously worked for the organization from 1993 - 2011, first as an Eastern region development coach before moving to Eastern region director. Maguire will once again lead the implementation and operation of alpine programs in the East and continue to strengthen the U.S. Ski Team’s development pipeline.

After he left U.S. Ski & Snowboard in 2011, Maguire went on to work at multiple Eastern region race programs, including Stratton Mountain Resort and Waterville Valley. He most recently coached  the U16s in the Sunapee Alpine Race Program in Newbury, New Hampshire. He is a level 500 international certified alpine coach and an International Ski Federation (FIS) technical delegate.

PARK CITY, Utah (Sept. 8, 2017) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard is partnering with Parents Empowered, a local media and education campaign, to help prevent and reduce underage drinking in the state of Utah. Both organizations recognize the important role parents and guardians play in educating their athletes and kids about the dangers of underage drinking and creating an alcohol-free environment.

Utah’s Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox joined U.S. Ski & Snowboard CEO Tiger Shaw, U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Executive Vice President of Athletics Luke Bodensteiner, Park City Mayor Jack Thomas and other Summit County representatives at U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Center of Excellence on September 6 to officially launch the partnership.

Eastern Region Director

 

·       The Eastern Region Alpine Program Director will lead the implementation of broad-based alpine programs within the Eastern Region, including the scheduling, facilitation, evaluation and growth of National and FIS scored and non-scored racing, club development and education, coach education, SkillsQuest events and education.

·       The Director will oversee and direct the implementation and operation of the Eastern Region competition system (competition calendars at all levels of National and FIS competition within the region)

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine (June 28, 2017) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard has announced Carrabassett Valley Academy and Sugarloaf as the newest additions to its training partnership program. CVA has been designated as a U.S. Ski & Snowboard High Performance Center and Sugarloaf as a Team Development Site.

As a high performance center, CVA will collaborate with U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Park City- based Center of Excellence and other high performance centers to share best practices in strength and conditioning, sport science and sports medicine. It will also serve as a site to host training and education sessions for U.S. Ski & Snowboard clubs in the region. CVA’s training facility, the Anti-Gravity Complex, boasts strength training venues, trampolines, an indoor skate park, basketball court, spin and yoga room, climbing wall and a variety of outdoor training sites.

Position Summary
The Central Division Alpine Manager will lead the operation of the Central Division using a strong athletic philosophy and methods.
1. To lead and administer athletic projects, race calendars, policies, and procedures of US Ski & Snowboard and Central Division as they relate to increasing the quality of athletic experience and quantity of member athletes and coaches partaking of those programs.

Western Region Youth Development Coach

 

Position Summary:

This is an athletic coaching position whose primary responsibility and focus is to advance U16 and U14 athletes by conducting high quality training and competition projects for regional level athletes in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard’s Western Region and within the National Development System. Additional responsibilities include coaches and club education, and the advancement of fundamental skiing skills with young athletes in the Western Region.
