USA Sweeps Podium at Junior Worlds

VALMALENCO, Italy (March, 27) – U.S. athletes occupied four of six podium spots Thursday during the dual moguls competition at the FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships. U.S. Ski Team athlete Ali Kariotis (Tiburon, CA) took the victory and led a U.S. podium sweep for the women after qualifying first earlier in the day. Morgan Schild (Vail, CO) and Tom Rawley (Telluride, CO) each nabbed a silver medal while Wednesday’s gold medalist Keaton McCargo (Telluride, CO) took bronze.


  • U.S. Ski Team athlete Ali Kariotis (Tiburon, CA) led a podium sweep for the women in dual moguls at the FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships Thursday in Valmalenco, Italy.
  • Morgan Schild (Vail, CO) took silver and Keaton McCargo (Telluride, CO) bronze. McCargo also took home the gold medal at Wednesday’s moguls competition while Schild earned silver.
  • Tom Rawley (Telluride, CO), who also earned gold Wednesday, landed silver in duals while Joel Hendrick (Winter Park, CO) took fourth.
  • Benjamin Cavet of France claimed the victory for the men with Marco Tade of Switzerland earning bronze.
  • The sun broke through the clouds for the first time in a week on Thursday, but the course held up well enough for the junior athletes to put on a show.
  • Next, the U.S. athletes head to the final competition of the season this weekend at the 2014 USANA U.S. Freestyle Championships at Deer Valley for moguls, aerials and dual moguls competitions.

I am so happy with the way today went for me. I qualified first which was a really good way to start the day and it was just awesome to see how well Team USA did as a whole. We were able to compete as a team and support each other and the results are awesome. I'm really looking forward to next season to see what I can do!
