Johnson and Tully Take NorAm Titles

KILLINGTON, Vermont (March. 7, 2016) – In the final moguls NorAm event of the season, Tess Johnson (Vail, CO) and Troy Tully (Armonk, NY) had podium finishes to solidify their spots at the top of the standings and take home the overall NorAm Grand Prix title for 2016. The finals in Killington, which took place March 5-6, featured men’s and women’s single and dual competitions.

Park City’s Alex Jenson (Park City, UT; Team Park City United) took home the win in the women’s moguls competition on Saturday Canada’s Clare Lambert was second and Johnson third. Tully took home the top spot for the men ahead of Canada’s Laurent Dumais in second and Emerson Smith (Frisco, CO; Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) in third.

Tully captured yet another win in the men’s dual moguls competition on Sunday. Abe Studler (Brant Lake, NY; Killington Mountain School) was second and Dumais third. Australia’s Taylah O’Neill took home the win for the women, with Avital Shimko (New York, NY; Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club) in second and Canada’s Julie Bergeron in third.

U.S. skiers swept the men’s overall standings, with Tully taking his first career NorAm Grand Prix title with 560 points. Smith finished the season in second with 495 points. Joel Hedrick (Fort Collins, CO; Winter Park Competition Center) was third with 375 points.

Johnson, who finished fourth in last year’s standings, closed out the season with 515 points, elevating herself to NorAm Grand Prix champion. Bergeron was second with 440 points and Sophia Schwartz (Sun Valley, ID) third with 384 points.
