OSLO, Norway (Feb. 27, 2016) – American skier Gus Kenworthy (Telluride, CO) scored a bronze medal in a highly competitive men’s big air competition at X Games Oslo on Saturday. Bobby Brown (Breckenridge, CO) took eighth for the men and Maggie Voisin (Whitefish, MT) finished fifth at the inaugural X Games women’s ski big air.

With five men laying down jumps that scored in the 90-point range, it was a tall order for Kenworthy to put down a performance that landed him on the podium. Coming off a double-silver-medal performance in halfpipe and slopestyle at X Games Aspen less than a month ago, Kenworthy was looking to add a big air medal to his 2016 collection in Oslo. He nailed his first of two tricks, a switch double cork 1440 tail, to earn the bronze. With his big air bronze, Kenworthy joins elite company—he is only the fourth skier to earn a medal in all three disciplines. Brown had two huge jumps but wasn’t able to land them clean, finishing an uncharacteristic last in the final.

The women’s competition was also highly competitive and Voisin skied well at the first ski big air competition X Games has offered to the women. Voisin, who is fresh off a second-place podium finish at the PyeongChang Olympic slopestyle test event, was the only woman in the field to throw a switch 900.

Next up for skiing at X Games Oslo is men’s and women’s halfpipe on Sunday.
