Winds Mix Up Results in Zao

ZAO, Japan (Jan. 18, 2015) - Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) persevered through swirling winds Sunday to lead the U.S. women, finishing tenth in a FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Zao. Carina Vogt of Germany took the win. The competition was reduced to just one jump with winds wreaking havoc all weekend.

Vogt soared 99 meters - long ride of the day - to win by three points over Russia's Irina Avvakumova. Jerome went 91.5 meters to take tenth in the first round, which later became official as the second round was canceled. Nita Englund (Florence, WI) was 25th with Sarah Hendrickson (Park City, UT) having trouble and going only 76.5 meters for 34th.

The World Cup tour now heads to Europe for a pair of events next weekend in Oberstdorf.
