BRECKENRIDGE, CO (Dec. 15) – Despite battling snowy conditions and a slow halfpipe Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) and Kaitlyn Farrington (Bellevue, ID) came out on top at Dew Tour halfpipe finals. Farrington debuted back-to-back 900’s for the first time in her competition run. White sported an enormous double McTwist 1200 in his first run that scored a 95.25. Louie Vito (Sandy, UT), the defending Dew Tour champion had an impressive first run that scored a 90 and went for a double 1200 in his second, but did not land on his feet. U.S. Snowboarding’s Maddy Schaffrick (Steamboat Springs, CO) after battling two consecutive injuries soared to third with a huge front-side 720. Next up for halfpipe athletes is the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix and FIS World Cup at Copper Mountain Jan. 9-13.

- Shaun White (Carlsbad, CA) won men’s Dew Tour halfpipe finals with Louie Vito (Sandy, UT) in second.
- Kaitlyn Farrington (Bellevue, ID) won the women’s Dew Tour finals and Maddy Schaffrick (Steamboat Springs, CO) took third.
- White’s run featured huge amplitude with his signature double McTwist 1200 and Vito’s first run had a near perfect Mikalchuk.
- Farrington debuted back-to-back 900’s a first for her competition run, and Schaffrick’s run had an impressive frontside 720.
- It is Schaffrick’s first competition back after suffering multiple injuries for the past two consecutive seasons.
- Japan’s Taku Hiraoka took third for the men and Spain’s Queralt Castellet took second for the women.
- Noticeably absent from the podium was Kelly Clark (West Dover, VT) and Elena Hight (South Lake Tahoe, CA) who struggled with speed in both their runs.
- Next on the competition circuit is the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix and FIS World Cup at Copper Mountain Jan. 9-13 featuring both halfpipe and slopestyle.

This is a great starting point for my season. I was really pushing to get the dub 12 and I am bummed I didn’t land it. The dub 12 was what I wanted in my run, but I couldn’t get it to my feet and I am looking forward to the next competitions to perfect my run.
Kaitlyn Farrington
I qualified last for the finals and really squeaked in so it was a really nice surprise to end up in first today. It’s such a good feeling to land both my runs and win the Dew Cup again, the last time I won it was in 2010 and it’s great to be back.
It was such a bummer that Kelly [Clark] isn’t up here with me I hate seeing my friends fall and she always rides so well! I am really looking forward to the Grand Prix’s coming up- they are always a good time.
Maddy Schaffrick
I was really looking to get my tricks dialed and back. It felt so good just to land a competiton run after battling these annoying injuries the last two seasons. My goal for myself was to make finals and landing on the podium is even better than I expected. This could not have turned out better for me and I am really happy.
