HINTERZARTEN, Germany (Dec. 21) – World Champion Lindsey Van and Jessica Jerome (both Park City, UT) jumped into the top ten, finishing ninth and tenth Saturday at the Hinterzarten World Cup. Both Van and Jerome put down solid jumps in the second round with Van edging out Jerome with a 98.5-meter ride. Japanese powerhouse Sara Takanashi won the event after flying 105 meters in the second round, while the next best jump was by runner up Daniela Iraschko-Stolz from Austria at 101m. On Sunday the women take to the normal hill again for a second World Cup.
HIGHLIGHTS
- World Champion Lindsey Van and Jessica Jerome (both Park City, UT) jumped into the top ten, finishing ninth and tenth Saturday at the Hinterzarten World Cup.
- Van jumped into 10th with her first 94.5-meter jump, while Jerome landed 17th. In the second round, both U.S. women improved but Van edged out ahead of Jerome with her second 98.5-meter ride.
- Japanese powerhouse Sara Takanashi won the event after flying 105 meters in the second round, while the next best jump was by runner up Daniela Iraschko-Stolz from Austria at 101m.
- Alissa Johnson (Park City, UT) was the only other U.S. woman to make it into the final round, and she finished 30th.
- World Champion Sarah Hendrickson (Park City, UT) is still in recovery after injuring her knee in an August crash.
- On Sunday the women take to the normal hill again for a second World Cup.

The jumping is getting better, but I'm still looking for more. I'm satisfied with today because the jumping is closer to what I'm looking for, but I know there's more in there.

I was a lot more confident going into the competition today than two weeks ago in Lillehammer. It's still a really tough field with 70 jumpers. My jumps weren’t as good in the comp as in official training, but it's going in the right direction and I'm excited for tomorrow.
