Micinski Silver at Jr. World Champs

VALMALENCO, Italy (March 31) - USSA TEAM Academy and rookie team member Alexi Micinski (Meridian, ID) took slopestyle skiing silver at the FIS Junior World Champs on Sunday. Lisa Zimmerman of Germany won gold for the ladies. In the men’s junior slopestyle competition, Brent Whipple (Stateline, NV) also took home the silver medal. Norway’s Felix Stridsberg-Usterud won for the men. After Sunday’s slopestyle event, the Marc Hadler trophy was awarded to the USA for earning the highest combined score of any other nation.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • USSA TEAM Academy and rookie team member Alexi Micinski (Meridian, ID) took slopestyle skiing silver at the FIS Junior World Championships in Valmalenco, Italy on Sunday.
  • Micinski was fresh off a win at the FIS World Cup slopestyle skiing final in Sierra Nevada, Spain last Saturday, her first World Cup victory.
  • In addition to Micinski, Julia Krass (Hanover NH) of the Waterville Valley BBTS team took fifth and Isabel Atkin (Newton, MA) of Axis Freeride took ninth. 
  • Lisa Zimmerman of Germany won gold for the ladies.
  • Brent Whipple (Stateline, NV), also of the Waterville Valley BBTS team, took home the men's silver medal.
  • Colter Hale (Winter Park, CO) of the Winter Park Competition Center took eighth. 
  • Norway’s Felix Stridsberg-Usterud won for the men.
  • After Sunday’s slopestyle event, the Marc Hadler trophy was awarded to the USA for earning the highest combined score of any other nation.
  • Sunday closed another great FIS Junior World Championships for the world's best teenaged freeskiers.
