Men Jump Windy Large Hill

ESTO-SADOK, Russia (Feb. 15) – The top ski jumpers in the world converged at the RusSki Gorki Jumping Center Saturday to take on the large hill ski jumping event of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games. Nick Fairall (Andover, MA) jumped into the top spot for the USA in 35th, while Polish jumper Kamil Stoch earned gold with Noriaki Kasai of Japan taking silver and Peter Prevc of Slovenia bronze. The event will be featured on NBC’s Primetime Olympic coverage at 8:00 p.m. EST, and the competition can be viewed in its entirety on NBCOlympics.com. The team jumping event on Monday Feb. 17 will be the final Olympic event for ski jumping at the 2014 Sochi Games.

I definitely had better technique in terms of pushing on the takeoff. That was definitely a good step forward, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement. The winds are kind of switching around back and forth, but I think the jury is doing a good job trying to keep it as fair as they can. It is an outdoor sport and there are a few factors you can’t necessarily control, but the jury is doing a good job right now.
