Mack Second in Air + Style

LOS ANGELES, CA (Feb. 21, 2016) – Kyle Mack (West Bloomfield, MI) stood with elite snowboarders when he laid down a second-place finish at Air + Style Los Angeles Sunday. Yuki Kadono of Japan won the event as Sven Thorgren of Sweden sealed his claim on the overall title when he placed third in L.A.

The Air + Style tour is an elite-level big air series staged by Shaun White Enterprises and hosted by White at EXPO Park at the LA Coliseum. The tour originated in Innsbruck, Austria in 1993 and eventually spread to a three-stop series including Innsbruck, Beijing and Los Angeles.

Mack used a frontside double cork 1440 tail in the super final to earn his spot on the podium. Mack has been competing successfully at high-level events around the globe, including being invited to X Games Aspen in 2016, where he placed seventh. He will next head to X Games Oslo, where he will compete against a challenging field on another scaffolding big air jump.

American Eric Willet (Breckenridge, CO) also rode well, making it to the semi-final where he landed a switch backside 1260 indy and a switch backside double cork 1260 tail. Willet finished sixth.

Up next for the U.S. Snowboarding athletes is X Games Oslo, which will feature big air and halfpipe competitions.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kyle Mack placed second. His two best jumps combined to score 180.66: backside triple cork 1440 Japan, frontside double cork 1440 tail.
