MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA (Jan. 18) – Sage Kotsenburg (Park City, UT) took the victory in slopestyle at the final stop of the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix Tour at Mammoth Mountain. His progressive first run scored a full three points ahead of the rest of the field, including Kyle Mack (West Bloomfield, MI) in second and Ryan Stassel (Anchorage) in third. Nominations for the first-ever U.S. Olympic team for slopestyle snowboarding will be announced Sunday after the final halfpipe qualifier, which will air on NBC and stream on nbcsports.com/liveextra at 3:00 p.m. EST Sunday.

- White sat out Saturday’s competition in order to rest before an attempt to qualify for halfpipe on Sunday.
- Kotsenburg’s winning run: cab 270 stalefish pull-back on down-flat-down, backside 270 to 270 off, half-cab backside 360 on the cannon, frontside 900 double tail, cab double cork 1260 stalefish and backside double cork 1080 nose to tail.

It’s been like nine or ten years since I got first place. It was so much fun. I know it definitely hasn’t set in, but I just went out and I was just like, ‘I don’t care if I do go or if I don’t. I just want to go snowboard and leave the whole politics and statistics aside and just go snowboard because that’s what we’re here for.’ We love competing to snowboard, not for a points race. That’s when I do the best is when I just have fun. So, I just set out today to have a bunch of fun and ended up on top.
At Sochi I’m going to have fun, and I want to enjoy going to the Olympics because not everyone gets to go. I’m obviously going to try my best and do it for the USA, but yea, I’m going to have fun.
