VAL DI FIEMME, Italy (Feb. 23) - Anders Johnson (Park City, UT), who made the championship field in Friday's qualifier, led the USA in the opening men's jumping event of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme. Johnson went 92.5 meters to finish 37th in the event won by Norway's Anders Bardal.

Johnson had qualified Friday for the championship round.
The HS106-meter event was won by Norway's Anders Bardal in a close battle with Austrian great Gregor Schlierenzauer who took silver.
Next up is the debut of a mixed gender team event Sunday evening featuring two women and two men on each team.
