BRECKENRIDGE, CO (Dec. 13, 2014)-  The 10th annual Dew Tour proved to be another successful event for U.S. Snowboarding athletes, with Kelly Clark leading the U.S. women in another podium sweep and Taylor Gold walking away with his first Dew Tour win – a week after opening the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix with a victory.

Gold, who squeaked into finals in twelfth place, came out swinging on the first run of finals with a frontside double cork 1260 to double Michaelchuck combination that would take the lead for the entire contest. Despite impressive amplitude and double cork combinations from both Chinese sensation, Yewie Zhang and sixteen year old Australian, Scotty James, Gold’s first run score of a 90.50 would prove to be unbeatable. Contest favorites, Danny Davis, Ben Ferguson and Chase Josey failed to land on their feet and will be looking forward to X Games for a little redemption.

On the women’s side, for the second week in a row, Kelly Clark led the U.S. women’s team to another podium sweep. Clark’s signature frontside 1080 continued to be untouchable, despite Chloe Kim’s unprecedented combination of switch tricks, including a switch backside air to cab 540 to switch backside 540. Kim ended up second, just a half a point shy of Clark’s 95.5. Arielle Gold, rounded out the podium in third with both a frontside 900 and a cab 900.

Snowboarding action continues Sunday, when the slopestyle men take to the course. Veteran Chas Guldemond will be looking to land on the top spot and take home the coveted Dew Cup.

QUOTES
Taylor Gold, Dew Tour Winner
I’m blown away! I did not think I was going to win today, I was feeling sketchy in practice, but it all just came together — I’m stoked. When I put up that first score I did not think it was going to hold, I mean I barely made it into the final… It’s amazing. I’ve always wanted to do well [at Dew Tour], I’ve watched the events since they started doing them, and it’s crazy to be in this position. I’m beyond stoked!

Kelly Clark, Dew Tour Winner
That was my stock run, I don't look to other people to determine the tricks I'm going to do. I've definitely come up short here the last few years and I look at how I was riding this time last year... It shows a lot of personal growth, and that's what it's about for me, to start this season off here — it makes me excited to see where I can push my snowboarding to.
