OBERSTDORF, Germany (Jan. 25, 2015) - Less than a month out from World Championships, Nita Englund (Florence, WI) continued her push leading the USA on the HS106-meter hill in Oberstdorf finishing eighth. Standing 14th after the first jump, Englund had to come from behind in an event won for the second straight day by Austria's Daniela Iraschko-Stolz.
Englund flew 87.0 meters on her first jump, landing in 14th. She came back on the second jump for a half-meter further at 87.5 meters, but was seventh on the round and that bumped her to eighth overall. Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) was the only other American making the top-30 cut.
"I was possibly too amped today and I made some big mistakes in my first competition jump," said Englund. "My second jump was spot on so I was glad I was able to move back up--but there were certainly lessons learned about being focused in the competition."
