ROCCARASO, Italy (March 9) - Ryan Cochran-Siegle (Starksboro, VT) added one more gold to the "Skiing Cochran's" shelf with victory in the men's combined to close the 2012 FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships. The 19-year-old Vermonter, who won the downhill to open the week, finished 28th in giant slalom and 10th in slalom Friday to secure the title with the most points across the three disciplines. His mother, 1972 Olympic slalom gold medalist Barbara Ann Cochran, was on hand to cheer her son to double gold.

- Ryan Cochran-Siegle (Starksboro, VT) won the men's combined for his second gold medal of the 2012 Junior Worlds.
- The title is determined by points scored across downhill, giant slalom and slalom.
- Cochran-Siegle won gold in downhill, was 28th in giant slalom and finished 10th in slalom.
- Robert Cone (Killington, VT) was sixth, Bryce Bennett (Olympic Valley, CA) 16th and Tanner Farrow (Ketchum, ID) 29th.
- The downhill gold earned Cochran-Siegle a downhill start at World Cup Finals, but he will opt to seek a NorAm overall title instead.
- Cochran-Siegle will now return to the NorAm tour where he leads the downhill and super G standings and is second in the overall.
- The NorAm champions recieve a World Cup starting position for the following season.
- A women's downhill was also set for Friday, but was completely canceled after two days of fog delays.

I wanted to podium, that was the goal. I wish I'd have at least finished the super G, but I can't complain that much. It was an awesome event.
My plan is head home to Stowe [Vermont] to try for the NorAm overall title. It would have been cool to race at World Cup Finals, but the NorAm overall gives you a start in every World Cup discipline next season. That's my new goal.
Having my mom here was great. We got to spend a lot more time together than I did last year.
It was a good day, Bryce [Bennett] squeeked into the flip and had a really good second run and Rob [Cone] also did really well. It was a good day.

I think slalom is the most difficult of the events. Theoretically you have 123 chances to mess up. It takes two runs and it’s a totally different ball game each time you kick out of the start but the boys collectively as a group, its probably the best day we have had. We are happy with everybody’s performance.
We're crossing the pond tomorrow to meet up with the rest of our group in Stowe and see what we can get done in chasing down some NorAm titles.
