Chodounsky 22nd in Schladming Night Race

SCHLADMING, Austria (Jan. 28) - Sochi bound David Chodounsky (Crested Butte, CO) finished 22nd in the final Audi FIS Alpine World Cup slalom before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. It was the fourth point scoring result of the season for Chodounsky, who posted a career best seventh earlier this winer in Val d'Isere, France. Norwegian teen Henrik Kristoffersen landed the surpirse win over Austrian Marcel Hirscher and Felix Neureuther of Germany as first run leader Mario Matt, also of Austria, went out three gates into the final. 

HIGHLIGHTS

• David Chodounsky (Crested Butte, CO) led the U.S. Ski Team with 22nd in an Audi FIS Alpine World Cup night slalom held in Schladming.
• The Sochi bound first time Olympian has now landed World Cup points in four of the seven races this season, including a career best seventh in December. 
• Norwegian upstart Henrik Kristoffersen, 19, won the race as first run leader Mario Matt of Austria straddled three gates into the final.
• World Cup slalom leader Marcel Hirscher of Austria was second followed by German Felix Neureuther. 
• Colby Granstrom (Lake Stevens, WA) also made the final, but struggled to find his rhythm in front of the crowd of 50,000 and did not finish the run.
• Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) was leading the first run, then straddled. Bode Miller (Franconia, NH) was also disqualified and Nolan Kasper (Warren, VT) did not qualify for the final.
• The final men's World Cup races before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games will be staged Feb. 1-2 in St. Moritz, Switzerland with a downhill and giant slalom.
