BIOGRAPHY
After a ninth-place finish at the 2000 Junior World Championships, Torin Koos moved up to the World Cup and earned a 12th-place finish in his first start in 2001. That result also earned him a spot on his first (of six) World Championship teams. Solid World Cup results then earned him a spot on the 2002 Olympic Team, his first of three appearances. Koos became the first U.S. cross country skier to focus soley on sprints, and has secured several top 10 World Cup and World Championship finishes, including a third-place in Estonia in 2007. In 2014 he won the freestyle sprint at the U.S. Championships, taking his sixth U.S. title and proving that he's ready to ski in Sochi.

FIRST TRACKS
Thanks to his father, a former biathalon Olympian, Torin Koos began skiing cross country early in his childhood during winters in Washington state. He skied for many years before he began competing at age 12. The oldest of three (with a younger brother and sister), Koos skied and ran for the University of Utah, where he was a NCAA First Team All American. He is currently enrolled at Westminster College in a masters program for communications. When not skiing, running or working on graduate work, he enjoys listening to music and eating and advocating for fresh pears from Washington.
