Keri Herman is the girl having the most fun on the hill—just ask anyone. You can find her lapping the park with her friends and dancing at the top of the course, but beneath the fun times and laughter is a serious athlete who followed her passion for skiing all the way to the Olympics. The road to Sochi was a grueling series of qualification events, and Herman rose to the occasion by winning the Breckenridge Grand Prix and taking second at the Park City Grand Prix, solidifying her spot on the first-ever Olympic slopestyle team. In Sochi, she represented the U.S. with her classic smile, finishing tenth and making history for freeskiing women at her sports first Olympics. Herman grew up with a passion for competition. That originally meant playing competitive ice hockey, but after a move to the University of Denver, Herman shifted that passion into skiing and turned it into a career. In 2010 she made a grand entrance by winning a silver medal at the Winter X Games slopestyle and then another at Euro X. She then grabbed a Dew Tour slopestyle silver and the second overall spot in the 2010 AFP rankings. Herman kept things going during the next few seasons with a silver at Winter X 2011, a bronze at World Champs and a second overall in the 2011 AFP rankings. She also won the opening Olympic qualifying period slopestyle World Cup in Argentina and the Copper U.S. Visa Grand Prix World Cup, helping her snatch up the 2013 World Cup slopestyle title, the first American female to do so.
