Two-time Olympian Greg Bretz was on a board at age five and began competing at 10. The talented rider out of Mammoth Lakes, CA has had marked success over the years, including podium finishes at the U.S. Grand Prix, Dew Tour, X Games and the FIS World Cup Tour. Bretz first earned a spot with U.S. Snowboarding after a breakout 2008 season that included wins on both the World Cup and Grand Prix circuits. The 2010 season saw the halfpipe rider notch a pair of top-10 finishes on the U.S. Grand Prix tour, which sealed him a spot on his first Olympic Team. The then 20-year-old finished 12th in Vancouver. Bretz came out of the gate swinging in 2014, winning the first Olympic qualifier of the season at the Breckenridge Dew Tour stop, becoming the first halfpipe rider to best Shaun White in nearly four years. Bretz backed up that win with a second-place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain, making an early claim on his ticket to Sochi. Bretz went on to earn his first X Games medal in Aspen (bronze) and then continued his strong riding at Rosa Khutor, where he posted another 12th-place finish at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games. In 2016 Bretz scored a handful of top-ten finishes on the competition circuit, despite struggling with some injuries. He also took a freeride trip to the mountains of Iceland with good friend and fellow halfpipe rider Scotty Lago. FIRST TRACKS OFF THE SNOW |
