Erik Fisher is a natural athlete. Whether he’s skiing, kiteboarding, or playing football, Fisher can do it better than most. Scouting reports say he would have done very well in football at the NCAA level. On the verge of a World Cup breakout season multiple times, 'Fish' has been constantly hampered by injuries, but that hasn’t stopped his all out search for speed. Back at it after missing all of 2013, Fish returned to his favorite World Cup hill and posted an impressive 13th in the Val Gardena, Italy downhill. It was enough to land a coaches’ discretionary pick to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. In Sochi, destiny was in his own hands in the form of an intra-squad race-off for Team USA’s final downhill starting spot. Steven Nyman ultimately won the spot. Undiscouraged by a minor knee injury, Fish pushed through the remainder of the 2014 season. He raced the Spring Series until the bitter end in hopes of improving his start position for the 2015 World Championship year, when the big event returns to American soil at Vail/Beaver Creek.
