Drew Duffy locked his spot on the U.S. Ski Team after impressing coaches at a spring tryout camp held at Mammoth Mountain, but it was a silver medal at the National Junior Championships and his 19th place in super G at the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships (one behind his bro) that bought him a ticket to the big show. It was Super G at the U.S. Alpine Championships at Sugarloaf, ME that surprised everyone—perhaps Duffy the most. Coming down 30th, Duffy crushed and found himself in first, sneaking ahead of veteran Steven Nyman. His reaction? "Cool!" and a thumbs up to the crowd. That's right, Duffy.

In 2016, Duffy made his World Cup debut in Lake Louise with the super G and scored his first World Cup points at Kitzbuehel in the combined. Welcome to the big leagues, Duffy! He went on to grab two top-15 finishes at World Juniors on the 2014 Olympic track in Sochi, with 10th in downhill and 11th in super G. Downhill day in Sochi was a historic day for Duffy and his teammates. While teammate and close friend Erik Arvidsson (Woodside, CA) was crowned downhill champ, Sam Morse (Sugarloaf, ME) was fourth, Florian Szwebel (Avon, CO) seventh and Duffy 10th. Duffy carried the momentum to U.S. Alpine Championships in Sun Valley, ID, where he was ninth in giant slalom and the fastest junior in the nation. Bring it on, 2017!

FIRST TRACKS
Duffy started racing at Mad River Glen. His family would drive up from Massachusetts every Friday afternoon right after school so they could train and race all weekend. Eventually they moved up to Vermont and he attended Green Mountain Valley School, where he spent middle school and high school. He went to a tryout camp in the spring of his senior year and made the D Team.

OFF THE SNOW
Duffy is an athlete...of snow, he likes to play pretty much every sport. His go-to activities are basketball and volleyball, but he also loves mountain biking. He says, "I think going downhill on a bike is so similar to skiing so it provides a pretty big adrenaline rush, biking is also a great workout!"
