Brooke Shaw brings new meaning to "all-around rider," as she’s a threat in the park, pipe and snowboardcross course—she even runs gates. Named to the All-Star Team at Sports Illustrated’s Next Snow All-Stars as a teenager, Shaw still manages to have fun while being competitive against the best in the world.

Even though Shaw is already a standout in the sport, the young rider has yet to have the chance to truly show her stuff on account of back-to-back season-ending injuries in 2009 and 2010. Shaw had another injury in early 2011, but she gave it time and closed out her season with a second-place showing at the Rev Tour in halfpipe.

Shaw may have taken a step back from snowboardcross after a knee injury in June of 2011, but she competed in high-level halfpipe competitions, including the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix and Dew Tour, where she placed among the top ten.

In 2013 Shaw refocused her efforts back to snowboardcross, and despite battling pesky pains in her knee, she competed in three World Cup’s to ease back into SBX competition. To close her season strong, she placed fourth at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix.

BROOKE SAYS
My goal for next year is to be the best athlete I can be. Get into shape, train and do the best I can in all the competitions, and hopefully make the Olympic Team.

FIRST TRACKS
On skis at three years old, Shaw switched to snowboarding at six and learned everything she knows about snow at Stratton Mountain. She loves shredding with her heroine and good friend Lindsey Jacobellis.

OFF THE SNOW
Shaw says with a laugh, “You can find me in physical therapy! Other than that I’m just at home hanging out with my siblings. I'm at home with my family.” When Shaw is healthy she is four wheeling, jumping on the trampoline, running and wakeboarding.
